In the latest updates from Malaysia, the Election Commission (EC) has reported a lower voter turnout at the Pulai parliamentary by-election compared to the Simpang Jeram state seat, citing heavy rain as a contributing factor.

Low Turnout

As of 3 pm, the voter turnout stands at 38% for Pulai and 51% for Simpang Jeram. Despite the adverse weather conditions, EC Chairman Abdul Ghani Salleh expressed satisfaction with the smooth and controlled voting process in both constituencies, hoping to achieve the EC’s target of over 70% voter turnout. Notably, younger voters are expected to cast their votes later in the afternoon.
