Another big result for Harimau Malaya with a draw against 80th-placed China, 1-1. The results show their ability to compete with the top 100-ranked teams in the world after the draw at the Phoenix Hill Stadium in Chengdu on Saturday. Forward Faisal Halim made his mark by scoring his 12th international goal with a well-placed finish past China’s goalkeeper Yab Junling in the 11th minute.

China responded with an equaliser in the 37th minute, courtesy of Lin Liangming’s powerful strike that beat national keeper Syihan Hazmi. On Wednesday Malaysia ranked 136th in the world, fought back to earn a 2-2 draw against world No. 94 Syria.
