Starbucks costs more for Malaysians
A user observed that they need to work at least 3.4 hours working at RM6/hour to buy an RM20 cup of Starbucks. However, in New Zealand, people are making $20/hour and a cup would cost local residents $8. Despite the disparity in the cost of living, users state that the brand’s popularity is booming in Malaysia.
Some state that Malaysians are obsessed with the coffee shop as it is a symbol of wealth and status for some. This is true due to how these drinks cost relatively as much as a meal in a nice restaurant. Most would typically pay only a few Ringgit for their coffee.
