Despite a brief interruption when Ronaldo held a higher rating in FIFA 17 and FIFA 18, Messi’s virtual dominance has persisted. However, an intriguing development awaits players in the upcoming FC 24 game, as neither Messi nor Ronaldo will be the highest-rated player, signalling a new era in virtual football.

Messi Overrated

On the international stage, Messi and Ronaldo, aged 36 and 38 respectively, continue to excel for Argentina and Portugal. Messi recently stole the spotlight with a crucial 89-minute effort in the CONMEBOL FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier, while Ronaldo faced a suspension after a caution in Portugal’s UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying victory over Slovakia, causing him to miss a subsequent match.
