Johor Baru’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is finally set for stage-one operation rollout by the third quarter of 2025, after facing delays. This 55km dedicated bus lane is a vital part of the Iskandar region’s revamped public transport system, known as Iskandar Rapid Transit (IRT). The IRT will consist of three lines: Iskandar Puteri (15km), Skudai (18km), and Tebrau (22km), with 22 solar-powered stations.

It’s expected to serve 302,824 passengers daily by 2030 and is seen as a more cost-effective option compared to constructing and operating LRT lines. Johor’s BRT will be the third in Malaysia, joining Sunway and Kuching systems.
