VAR has been a problem since its introduction but nothing much is being done to correct the mistakes and we have more VAR drama on our hands. Arsenal went through such a dramatic moment in its 1-0 win versus Everton away. Leandro Trossard strike gives the Gunners 3 points after Gabriel Martinelli’s disallowed goal.

VAR DRAMA

The controversy arose when a goal by Martinelli was disallowed in the first half due to Eddie Nketiah being ruled fractionally offside by VAR. The decision hinged on whether Everton striker Beto’s intervention, which significantly altered the ball’s path, was deliberate. PGMOL rules specify that a deflection must be deliberate, requiring a player to have control of the ball, and in this case, Beto was judged not to be in control.
