A total of 43,107 premises or 94.8% of the 45,467 premises inspected across the country from January to August this year, comply with the hygiene levels set for food handling. Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman Awang Sauni said that during the period in question, a total of 1,097 premises were ordered to close, for failing to comply with the hygiene aspects of food preparation.

“This means that in Malaysia the premises comply with the standards of hygiene regulations… this also includes the food truck we brought for today’s event, which was found to comply with the standards set in the preparation of food,” he said in a press conference after attending Apron Walk 2023. He said a total of 58,675 compounds had also been issued for various offences under the Food Regulations 2009 for the same period.
