3R: EC Now forms Teams to Monitor Violations in Pelangai

The Election Commission (EC) has formed two Election Campaign Empowerment Teams to oversee activities during the Pelangai state legislative assembly by-election (PRK). These teams will focus on monitoring issues related to race, religion, and the royal institution or the 3R to ensure they are not exploited during the election campaign.

While parties are allowed to campaign as usual, the teams will intervene in cases that may lead to negative emotions, dissatisfaction, hostility, or involve racial and religious sensitivities. The EC aims for a harmonious and law-abiding campaign period. There are no restrictions on the distribution of campaign materials, and the campaigning period will continue until October 6, with voting scheduled for October 7. The by-election features a three-way contest between candidates from BN, PN, and an independent candidate.
