“Do not issue a new fatwa. Under no circumstances should we take bribes,” says Deputy Inspector General of Police, Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay on charity or donations that are instead related to corruption. He says this is still illegal. When speaking at the 2023 National Border Security Seminar he says he will not tolerate matters of integrity and any individual involved in corrupt practices will be arrested, accused in court and subject to disciplinary action.

Ayob said that the issue of integrity must be given the highest priority by every civil servant before other issues related to corruption and abuse of power can be overcome. “Civil servants who reach 60 years are already retired. When you retire, don’t make noise anymore, sit at home and take care of your grandchildren. Right now we have power and position, we fulfill that responsibility and don’t be afraid. There is nothing to be afraid of,” he says.
