While Minister of Tourism Arts and Culture Tiong King Sing has repeated his claim that non-Muslim tourists to Langkawi have complained of being prohibited from wearing shorts and drinking alcohol on the island, local folks on the touristic Island are saying the PH government and PMX has abandoned them, instead.

A Grab driver complained that Tiong is only talking a lot and not delivering. “As Minister of Tourism he should deliver. They say they will bring tourists in Langkawi. But the number of tourists in Langkawi has dwindled. It is around 40% of what it was in 2019-2020 now,” he says adding that the state has no other means of generating money for the residents and depends on tourism largely. He also adds that many people voted for PH and they (the government) should not abandon them.
