The government will return the assets currently held under the Ministry of Finance’s (MOF) Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister, who also serves as the Finance Minister, explained that this decision stems from MOF’s satisfaction with Tabung Haji’s improved management, governance, and continued financial performance following previous challenges.
PM Anwar requests Tabung Haji assets to be handed back
This move effectively dispels unfounded allegations that TH’s assets within the SPV were transferred to non-Muslim ownership. Anwar emphasized that he had always intended to initiate discussions about returning these assets to TH once its stability and financial well-being were ensured.
This step aims to clear the Finance Minister of accusations that the assets were shifted to non-Muslim ownership during his tenure.
