Teachers are the largest group of civil servants falling prey to online scams in Johor, experiencing losses totaling RM4.24 million from January to last month, according to Johor Police Chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat.

Teachers in Johor suffer from scams

This may be attributed to the sizable teacher population in the state, estimated at around 50,000 individuals. During this period, the state received 388 reports related to online fraud, with 117 cases involving teachers.

Kamarul Zaman highlighted the need for public education about various forms of online fraud, including campaigns in educational institutions and workplaces. He also cautioned against disclosing bank account information to unknown parties.
