The UK government has received a request to disclose its actions regarding investigations into whether Manchester City’s owner, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aided wealthy Russians in transferring their assets to the UAE.

Lawyers representing a Ukrainian activist have written to the foreign secretary, James Cleverly, inquiring about any investigations into his possible designation as a “designated person” under sanctions regulations.
If designated, he would be disqualified as a club owner under the Premier League’s rules. The letter suggests a prima facie basis for the UK government to conduct an investigation given publicly available evidence linking him to accommodating wealthy Russians in the UAE.
