Kenyan-born athlete Kelvin Kiptum has made a remarkable impact on the international marathon scene within just 10 months. In December 2022, he debuted with a stunning time of 2:01:53 in Valencia, the fifth-fastest marathon time in history. He followed this up with a victory in the London marathon in April 2023, recording the second-fastest time ever at 2:01:25, just behind Eliud Kipchoge’s record.

His meteoric rise continued as he shattered the world record in the Chicago Marathon, running a remarkable 2:00:35 during only his third marathon. His ‘negative split’ strategy and unmatched pace left his competitors in the dust, securing his place in marathon history.
