Typically, when customers are ordering from Starbucks, they would place it in English. This is simply due to the fact that the items they are selling are named in English. However, a peculiar incident occurred where a customer claimed that a staff member was rude to him for speaking in English and told him to speak in Malay instead.

Starbucks worker allegedly told customer to speak in Malay

The post has garnered over 1.6 million views on X. This incident is reminiscent of the time when a Starbucks staff accidentally wrote a customer’s name as “Babi” on her cup. Furthermore, this resorted to users making peculiar remarks towards the whole situation by pretending to order a drink in Malay.

Others state that these baristas tend to be rather snobbish towards their customers. Netizens state that these individuals are not the owners of the coffee shop, but rather the workers. They should be polite to their customers. However, working in an F&B outlet may not be an entire bed of roses, and the members of staff are still human.
