TikTok faces mounting scrutiny as reports reveal that teenage girls exploit the platform’s lax regulations to sell photos for as little as RM4.90. Reports of schoolgirls as young as 14 selling content in school uniforms on TikTok have further fueled the call for stricter regulations.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s Communication and Digital Minister, Fahmi Fadzil, criticized TikTok’s inadequate efforts in curbing the spread of fake news and non-compliance with Malaysian laws. Following Indonesia’s recent ban on TikTok’s e-commerce segment, Malaysia is considering similar measures. Fahmi emphasized the need for TikTok to operate within Malaysian guidelines and address these issues promptly.
