AirAsia recently implemented a voluntary “Weighing with Care” initiative for some flights at Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport. Passengers were asked to weigh themselves along with their cabin luggage before boarding to gather updated information on passenger weights, in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, to enhance service efficiency and safety.

Weigh Yourself

The airline assured that passenger information would be kept confidential. While the idea of public weighing caused amusement online, it’s not a new concept. Airlines like Bangkok Airways, Air New Zealand, and Korean Air have conducted similar programs to ensure aircraft stability and accurate fuel calculations, reflecting changing weight trends.
