Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim recently announced tightened measures against alcohol smuggling, limiting transshipments to specific ports. Import licenses are a vital tool for monitoring and regulating alcohol imports, ensuring compliance with agreed-upon conditions.
Any excess quantity in the market is seen as illicit, necessitating valid tax stamps on marketed liquor, which only license holders can order per import quantities, along with mandatory monthly reports to the customs department.
