The customs department is taking a strong stance against the misuse of import licenses, even for importing alcoholic beverages, vowing to blacklist offending companies and their board members. Anis Rizana Zainudin, the director-general, emphasized that this penalty aligns with the license permit conditions.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim recently announced tightened measures against alcohol smuggling, limiting transshipments to specific ports. Import licenses are a vital tool for monitoring and regulating alcohol imports, ensuring compliance with agreed-upon conditions. 

Any excess quantity in the market is seen as illicit, necessitating valid tax stamps on marketed liquor, which only license holders can order per import quantities, along with mandatory monthly reports to the customs department.
