The rise of netizens canceling non-halal establishments has been around since the dawn of Malaysian social media. A restaurant states that they confirm babi (which means pig in Malay). However, some users find it funny.
Others add that the restaurant owner appears to be tired with the individuals who want Chinese cuisine but a halal-version. There are a number of halal eateries that offer Chinese cuisine as well. Furthermore, there are some that will sell non-halal items too.
Some are upset at the fact that the sign is written in English. They state that we’re not in Australia but in Malaysia, and it is best to use the Malay language when they’re trying to inform the local population about something.
