Umno Supreme Council Member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan defended his statement on allocation announcements during by-elections, citing court rulings as the basis. He challenged Bersih to review the court decision and bring it back to court if necessary.
Ahmad has closely followed by-elections since 1990 and emphasised that court precedent allows the government to announce anything, anytime, and to anyone, whether during a by-election or not.
Meanwhile, Bersih questioned Ahmad’s remarks, but he clarified that previous court decisions supported his stance. In the upcoming Sungai Bakap by-election, voters are urged to consider real facts rather than racial sentiments propagated by the opposition.
