Less than 10% Malays in DAP but party wooing Malay voters now

1 min read

KUALA LUMPUR, April 08, 2025 – Despite Malays making up less than 10% of DAP’s membership, the party has appointed two Malay leaders, Syahredzan Johan and Young Syefura Othman, to its Central Executive Committee (CEC), showcasing its commitment to merit over race or religion. Syahredzan, DAP’s vice-chairman, emphasized that their election during the March 16 National Congress reflects the party’s focus on capability rather than demographics. Alongside Syefura, the Bentong MP and DAP publicity assistant secretary, they aim to strengthen ties with Malay voters and boost multi-ethnic support. Four other Malay candidates failed to secure CEC spots in the recent polls. So now vote DAP can go to paradise?
