A 17-year-old secondary school student in Nilai has tested positive for three types of drugs following a police investigation into a viral video allegedly showing him in a dazed condition after vaping.
Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said preliminary urine screening detected ketamine, benzodiazepines and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). The video was believed to have been recorded at a secondary school in the district on October 28 before circulating on social media. Police took note of the footage on November 4 and subsequently identified the teenager involved.
Police Await Confirmation of Drug Screening Results Before Further Action
Alzafny stressed that the initial urine screening results were still subject to further confirmation. A police report has also been lodged in connection with the incident as investigations continue.
The teenager will be referred to the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) for further action under Section 3(1) of the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983. The case has renewed concerns over the potential misuse of vape devices among schoolchildren, particularly amid reports of vaping products being associated with substances beyond nicotine. Authorities have not disclosed how the teenager obtained the substances or whether other individuals were involved.
