RM500 Million Allocated to Halt Toll Hikes on Key Malaysian Highways

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a postponement of toll rate hikes for 10 highways, benefiting an estimated 941,000 users nationwide. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the move, despite being contractually scheduled, reflects the MADANI government’s commitment to easing the financial burden on the public.

The Finance Ministry will allocate over RM500 million in compensation to concessionaires to maintain highway operations and safety. The affected highways include the MEX, LPT2, SKVE, SDE, and LLB. Nanta added that the decision was made responsibly and with public welfare in mind, prioritizing safety, access, and affordability.
