He supported UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s suggestion that Umno be given a ministerial seat if Tengku Zafrul joins PKR. Ahmad Maslan’s remarks follow Anwar’s statement that a reshuffle is unnecessary despite the resignations of Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad on May 28.
Zafrul left UMNO two days later and is applying to join PKR. Zahid stressed that a new economy minister should be appointed soon ahead of the 13th Malaysia Plan.
