KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 17 — Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan defended youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh’s gathering outside a Penang hardware store accused of flying the Jalur Gemilang upside down. It was meant to make peace, not chaos.

He said Akmal had already been summoned by police and stressed that the rule of law must be respected by all. Mohamad described the flag incident as a sensitive matter that must not go unpunished to safeguard national harmony. DAP Youth chapters have urged cutting ties with Akmal, but he dismissed the calls, daring DAP to proceed.
