An American woman was arrested at Phuket International Airport on Feb 23 for attempting to smuggle methamphetamine worth 1.29 million baht (S$51,500) hidden in bedding sets. She was stopped during a routine passenger risk assessment while en route to Singapore. Customs officials found 4.3kg of crystal meth wrapped in brown tape and plastic. The suspect faces charges under Thailand’s Narcotics Code and Customs Act. This arrest is part of Thailand’s ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking, which has seized 1.72 tonnes of meth since October 2024.
