Singaporean Amos Yee, 27, was deported from the United States and charged under the Enlistment Act upon arrival in Singapore on March 20. He faces three charges, including failing to report for pre-enlistment medical screening and remaining overseas without a valid exit permit.

Convictions could carry up to three years’ jail or a fine of S$10,000. Yee appeared in court via video-link and was remanded, with his next hearing set for March 26. Once a controversial YouTuber, Yee previously served jail terms in Singapore, gained asylum in the US, and was later convicted of child pornography offences in Illinois.
