Hackers are deploying malicious Android apps to target internet users in Malaysia, according to the Malaysia Computer Emergency Response Team (MyCERT).
These fraudsters are using devious ways to collect and access consumers’ confidential banking information through a campaign known as ‘SMSSpy.’ SMSSpy is running two campaigns, according to a MyCERT report published on June 13, 2022.
The first effort has cybercriminals impersonating law enforcement agents and convincing victims to download malicious Android software that will allegedly ‘settle’ their outstanding payments. Secondly, they are using websites thatlooks like original services websites to confuse users. Beware!
