Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim criticized senior lawyer Mohamed Haniff Khatri’s proposal to involve the Conference of Rulers in discussing Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s alleged defiance regarding an addendum related to Najib Razak, calling it unconstitutional and potentially leading to a constitutional crisis. Mohamed Haniff Khatri, has suggested that Anwar should be referred to Conference of Rulers but Hassan says this is unconstitutional.
Constitutional crisis
Hassan emphasized that such matters should be addressed in Parliament, not by the Conference of Rulers, as outlined in the Federal Constitution. He urged patience for the upcoming judicial review on Najib’s case, where key issues about the addendum and the Pardons Board’s adherence to constitutional requirements can be resolved. Hassan advised against premature accusations or actions that could destabilize the nation.
