Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reprimanded the opposition for accusing him of issuing misleading statements regarding the Allah issue during a session in the Dewan Rakyat. This follows a claim made by Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi (PN-Tanjong Karang) that Anwar did not consult the Yang di-Pertuan Agong before retracting an appeal in the Jill Ireland case.

The Prime Minister clarified that he did not deceive or confuse the House on the matter, as he had indeed consulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong before withdrawing the appeal. He explained that Sultan Selangor’s statement, which suggested referring the issue to the Conference of Rulers, related to the amendment issue, not the withdrawal of the court appeal.
Anwar emphasized that he followed proper procedures and consultations, dismissing any insinuations of misleading the public for political gain.
