Anwar now says some prosecutions were flawed, politically motivated

1 min read

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim defended the judiciary’s independence following Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s recent acquittal on money laundering and tax evasion charges. Addressing concerns, Anwar highlighted flaws in some post-GE14 prosecutions, attributing them to rushed, politically motivated actions. He criticized hypocrisy in blaming the government for judicial outcomes, emphasizing that decisions, including the Attorney-General’s appeal in Rosmah’s case, follow due process. Anwar pointed out Rosmah’s existing conviction for corruption involving Sarawak’s RM1.25 billion solar project, reaffirming his administration’s non-interference in judicial matters. “Judicial independence remains intact under my leadership,” he assured, urging trust in the legal system.
