ASEAN Endorses 5-Year Plan to Boost Agriculture and Forestry Cooperation

ASEAN member states have been urged to deepen collaboration in agriculture and forestry through regional platforms. At the ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) meeting in Manila, Malaysia’s delegation led by Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu supported the adoption of the ASEAN Food, Agriculture and Forestry-Sectoral Plan 2026–2030.

ASEAN’s 5 Year Plan for Agriculture

Two key deliverables under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2025—the Leaders’ Declaration and Cooperation Framework toward 2045—will be tabled at the upcoming ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur. Bilateral talks with the Philippines and Japan explored new areas of agricultural cooperation. The meeting reaffirmed ASEAN’s shared commitment to food security, sustainability, and inclusive growth.
