Yesterday, Balenciaga, who has more than a 100 years experience in the world of luxury fashion, released a pair of questionable shoes. These shoes cost RM8,050 and are ‘limited edition’ whatever that means.

Remember the days when you’d wear a pair of broken shoes to school and the other kids would definitely have made fun of you. However, in 2022 it’s no longer the case, wearing broken shoes are the new norm and they’d cost more than their clean cut counterparts.

This is especially true for Balenciaga, where they’re literally selling an identical non torn up version for RM2,700. Basically a fraction of the price when compared to the broken shoes. Regardless, Balenciaga has changed their focus from being a purely luxury brand to a ‘social experiment’ brand, and this is never more so shown with these shoes.
