In a modest house in Teroi, Guar Chempedak, Yan, a tragedy unfolded today involving a 37-year-old Bangladeshi construction worker. Around 1 PM, a heated dispute erupted with a 42-year-old local colleague at a bridge construction site in Bukit Jenun. Yan District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohammad Harmizi Abdullah, said the conflict began when the local man reprimanded the victim for being late to work.

Angered, the victim grabbed a machete and swung at his colleague, who held an iron rod. The local then used a cable to strangle the victim, who lost consciousness. The suspect reported the incident to the police. The house housed six men, including four Bangladeshis and another local. Police investigations are ongoing, with the suspect detained. Worker safety is now under scrutiny.
