Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is “cautiously optimistic” about Malaysia’s economic prospects for 2026, citing supportive domestic demand, strong exports, tourism recovery and an ongoing boom in electronics and AI-linked sectors, Governor Datuk Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said at the Malaysia Economic Forum 2026.

He noted that Malaysia’s diversified economy, robust banking sector and resilient external demand are among key factors expected to sustain growth momentum this year, even as global uncertainties persist.
BNM also cited strengthening investments, especially in high-value technology and AI-related industries, as well as a healthy labour market, as structural supports for continued economic expansion in 2026.
