A false alarm of a plane crash in Batu Berendam caused a media frenzy when residents reported a light aircraft at a roundabout on January 9. Journalists rushed to the scene, mistaking it for an aviation accident, only to find the aircraft was being relocated. Journalist Reza A. Hamid explained they realized it was a decommissioned Piper PA-28 Cherokee, repurposed by the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council as a landmark near Melaka International Airport. Council president Sapiah Haron confirmed the aircraft was donated by a local flying school to serve as a symbolic sculpture, not related to any crash.
