A beauty-industry businessman was fined RM4,600 by the Magistrate’s Court for accessing and storing obscene materials on two smartphones. The magistrate ordered the man, 29, to serve three months in jail if he failed to pay the fine, which he did.

The victim noticed a mobile phone while showering and CCTV footage showed him running out of the toilet. His lawyer argued for a minimum fine, citing his client’s uncertain income and family responsibilities.
