Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed disappointment over the lack of tangible outcomes from the Bumiputera Economic Congress 2024, particularly in advancing the Bumiputera Economic Transformation Plan 2035 (Putera35). Speaking at the congress’ One-Year Retreat, Zahid stressed that the 132 initiatives under Putera35, launched in August 2024 to boost bumiputera economic participation, must translate into concrete results, not remain as cabinet documents. With only 15 percent of the plan implemented, he urged bold, high-impact actions and systematic monitoring by the Bumiputera Economic Council to ensure Putera35 fulfills its goal of enhancing bumiputera ownership and economic control.
