The Selangor Social Welfare Department (JKM) is investigating a childcare centre after three complaints were lodged alleging abuse and breaches of standard procedures at several of its branches, following videos that went viral online. Complaints involve branches in Section 3 Shah Alam, Kota Keming and Puchong Prima, and officers have been instructed to conduct on-site investigations into the claims.
Welfare Dept Probes Alleged Abuse at Childcare Centre Branches
Viral social media videos reportedly show a child with autism locked in a storage room and other children being instructed to crawl through a drain to avoid inspections, prompting public outrage and formal reports to JKM and police. The centre operator Al-Kauthar Eduqids has said it is cooperating with authorities and has handed over CCTV footage to help with inquiries.
JKM has also confirmed that the three involved branches were not registered under the Child Care Centre Act 1984, and legal and enforcement actions are being considered. Parents are advised to check the registration status of childcare providers to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
