Chipotle Mexican Grill has quietly filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to form a political action committee (PAC), marking a significant shift in how the company engages in U.S. politics. The PAC will allow Chipotle to collect voluntary donations from employees and executives and contribute directly to federal candidates.

This move departs from the company’s previous “Government Affairs Engagement Policy,” which stated it did not operate a PAC. Executives say the PAC gives Chipotle’s 130,000 employees a voice in political debates that affect their lives and the business. The timing comes ahead of the highly competitive 2026 midterm elections, where corporate PACs are expected to play a larger role in campaign financing.
