Kampar MP Chong Zhemin (DAP) stirred controversy in Parliament by suggesting MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong join PAS, following perceived support from the opposition during his speech on the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13). Deputy Speaker Alice Lau reminded Wee to address the House, not just the opposition bloc, during his speech. This prompted Ronald Kiandee (PN–Beluran) to defend Wee, saying DAP had attacked him. The exchange escalated as Wee demanded Chong retract his remarks, accusing DAP MPs of repeated provocation during his speeches. The session highlighted growing tensions between government backbenchers and the opposition.
