Chua Wei Kiat Wins Selayang PKR Re-Election After Poll Chaos
The initial April 12 election was voided due to voting irregularities. In Jempol, Manivanan Gowin also emerged victorious with 571 votes, after the earlier winner was disqualified. Re-elections were also held in Silam, Pasir Salak, Besut (Women’s chief), and Semporna due to rule breaches.
Issues included candidate disqualifications, incorrect withdrawal statuses, and political party-switching, as seen in Jempol’s Azizah Salim Shah. The original PKR polls faced widespread allegations of misconduct.
