Coffin Brought to Petrol Station to Prove Need for Cremation Fuel After Refusal

1 min read

Amid ongoing fuel concerns tied to global supply pressures, the worker, identified as Preecha, 48, said staff initially declined to fill containers with diesel despite his explanation that it was for cremating a body. Frustrated, he returned with the deceased’s body in a coffin on a hearse and three 18‑litre containers to show the purpose of his fuel request. After the station manager was consulted, staff agreed to sell the diesel.

Preecha, who works at a temple along Highway 344 in Ban Bueng district, said the family had opted for cremation due to financial hardship while burial was delayed because cemetery operations were still clearing space. He has bought diesel in containers from that station for years but said stricter controls from recent shortages led to the initial refusal.
