Perikatan Nasional (PN) seeks to unite Malays and Indians to challenge DAP’s control of Penang. With Malays at 41.40% and Indians at 9.92%, their combined support could surpass the Chinese population. PN’s strategy includes offering the chief minister post to an Indian, appealing to the community’s long-standing political aspirations. While an Indian CM would rely on Malay backing, Malays lose nothing as they never held the position. If successful, PN, led by PAS, would claim a major victory over DAP. This alliance in Penang could also serve as a foundation for a broader Malay-Indian coalition nationwide.
