He underscores the need for prioritizing essential projects, such as improving the Pan Borneo Highway and renovating the numerous dilapidated schools in the region. While the railway could enhance productivity and job opportunities, concerns arise regarding its financial feasibility.
Transport expert Wan Agyl Wan Hassan sees the project’s potential to improve resource and human mobility, thus benefiting the regional economy. Sarawak’s minister supports the railway for its capacity to transport resources like minerals and oil palm.
