Kelantan’s Angkatan Wanita Amanah (Awan) emphasized that a minister for non-Muslim religious affairs is unnecessary, as the Federal Constitution already safeguards religious freedoms. Awan Kelantan chief Dr. Hafidzah Mustakim highlighted that Article 3(1) declares Islam as the federation’s religion while allowing other faiths to be practiced peacefully. Additionally, Article 11(1) ensures freedom of worship, the building of places of worship, and religious self-governance. She warned against politicizing religious issues, stressing the importance of maintaining harmony in Malaysia’s diverse society. Dr. Hafidzah reaffirmed that the existing legal framework effectively protects non-Muslim rights without needing a separate ministry.
