A young couple, aged 21 and 19, were arrested in Subang Jaya for a deadly house fire in Kampung Bukit Siput, Segamat, on July 25. The blaze killed a 72-year-old woman and damaged five houses. Johor police revealed the suspects were allegedly hired by a Singapore-based loan shark syndicate to intimidate a borrower, earning RM1,000 per job. Active in Johor and Selangor since July, the male suspect faces nine charges, including causing death without intent and arson, and will be charged tomorrow. His girlfriend was released on bail to act as a prosecution witness. Authorities warn of rising loanshark violence.
