The Court of Appeal has upheld a life sentence and 12 strokes of the cane for Mohd Jurib Mohamad Naib, convicted of trafficking 177.51g of methamphetamine in Baling, Kedah. His appeal was unanimously dismissed, with judges affirming the High Court’s finding that he had possession and control of the drugs.

Though the vehicle was registered under his brother’s name, testimony confirmed it was used solely by Mohd Jurib. The court deemed the conviction safe. Defence argued others had access to the car, but prosecutors countered with evidence of sole use and attempted evasion during arrest. The case falls under Section 39B.
