Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad cynically congratulated the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for having succeeded in reducing corruption in Malaysia. First, Mahathir claimed that bribery was reduced by stopping the prosecution of all 47 cases facing the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, thus 47 cases of rasuah were reduced.

In addition, the former Prime Minister claimed, that bribes was further reduced when Datuk Abdul Murad Khalid’s sworn statement (SD) that Anwar was involved in alleged rasuah amounting to RM3 billion was not pursued and thus RM3 billion was saved. He also says opposition MPs are supporting Anwar because of cash handouts to serve their constituencies. He says this is how rasuah was reduced.
