Czech Tourist Arrested for Graffiti Vandalism in Mersing

A 32-year-old Czech tourist was arrested for spray-painting graffiti on buildings in Mersing last week. Mersing deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Sharif Shai Sharif Mondoi said the suspect was tracked down using CCTV footage and arrested by the district Criminal Investigation Division (CID).

The suspect is of sound mind and not involved in drug abuse. The Kota Tinggi Magistrate’s Court granted a four-day remand order for investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief and causing damage to property. The graffiti was condemned as vandalism.
